A Tale of Two Tails ♥ 4 re-imaginings

I like to say that I ‘reserve the right to alter my paintings’ while they are still with me. This is a reminder that distance allows for deeper insight. Working then stepping away, allows our subconscious to speak up and analyze the creation we just made.   I finished Precious Companion on Tuesday but woke Wednesday morning, way too early... obsessing. I was no longer in love with the mother mermaid’s tail.   I yearned for something more flowy, a bit translucent, waving in the sea. I feel great about her new tail. And I hope she does, too! ♥...

I could feel that I was stalling on some paintings this week, so, instead, I got a hair-brained idea that I NEEDED to rearrange my studio, because that would 'solve everything!' I knew it wouldn't, but I played...

WHO & WHY?

WHO & WHY?

Over the last year or two it might seem like I've gone off the rails. Have you wondered: "WHO is 'The Seeker'? and WHY is Katie painting this character instead of her Mother & Child art?"   If you are willing to read, then by golly I’m willing to share… (also: I’m still painting Mother & Child!)     In 2018 my heart felt broken when my best friend walked away. I was officially ghosted after sharing my inner pain with someone I trusted. With no way to share and find mutual understanding, confusion, hurt and silence followed. I expected a...
