A few weeks ago I spoke of listening to our souls to learn how we want to feel. I, personally, listened and heard: kind, contented, peaceful, free, orderly, simplified, mindful, helpful to others, creative, joyful, inspired, appreciated, and anticipatory toward an upcoming creative project.
I hope that since that email you have found a moment to check in with your own feelings.
YEARS ago I read The Fire Starter Sessions by Danielle LaPorte, where I first discovered the notion of getting clear on how we want to FEEL instead of only on what we want to do/get/be/accomplish. This idea of 'core desired feelings' lay dormant in me for 10 years before it popped out recently and made me feel BETTER.
I won't lie, this is a weird time to be an artist, a one-mother business... but thinking about how I want to FEEL took me from wondering if orders would come in, to: how do I feel when orders DO come in? Answer: Relevant, grateful, and with an excuse to create a print, embellish a print, or create a new painting! Which dovetail into how I truly WANT to feel, in general: creative, inspired, seen, and like I am working on a great project!
So... why don't I just pull out my paints, start creating, and choose to FEEL that way?
I did just this last week with Boundless Potential (above). She was 'done' several months ago, but still calling for me to give her something more... so I took her back to the easel. Want to see the video of how she transformed?
This week, I have beautiful family custom paintings to conceive of and sketch, and Embellished Prints to make, but Boundless Potential was a super way to stay creative and feel how I want to feel, without requiring anything from anyone else, or side-eyeing the Universe for not bringing in more orders :)
