Message from the Artist: We can become swept away by the silence and cruelty of others, twisting and doubtful, then thankfully compelled up onto a well-earned shoreline, where all the bullshit becomes obvious. 

It’s pointless to kick yourself for believing the false. Stand tall on that warm shore instead and use those feet to move forward. A magnificent horizon awaits you, with elevated companions, arms outstretched, more authentic than you ever imagined.  

From Katie: This painting and her story are inspired by a chapter of my life, an experience that spawned my book A Silent Story, a several year in-depth creative foray into authenticity and healing. My mind has trouble letting go. It continuously analyzes, writes, draws, and tries to solve the puzzle of human behavior and how we think.

As skin holds pink spots after breakouts, a heart holds scars after distress. It feels true that a heart can gush with a river of sorrow, and that we are eventually kicked out of that monotonous flow, onto dry land so that we can find our steps forward. We grow and learn and discover what we are made of each time our hearts and bodies are dragged through disappointment.
