Message from the Artist: To have an environment of less, to make a space cleaner, the surroundings fresher. To wander, feeling for where positive change can be made. A quick edit to lift the spirit. Re-angling a couch, spinning a table.
Sorting a collection with faded meaning; books exiting an ever-decreasing assortment, destined for library donation. Doodads enroute to the give-away bag.
A refreshing glow infuses the soul as our places open up to us, leaving more space to pull our partners into a dance, twirl with a stack of towels, walk backwards to hear a busy child’s tale, or to toss things with whimsy. Open space to just dink around. Oh, how our brains can scheme and calibrate, when our eyes can rest on renewed spaces uncluttered.
What childhood event has planted this seed? This delicate flavor of craze that I appreciate as a balm for my soul. When a fog of overwhelm descends, I need only make a note of areas of my life that need ‘less’. Or walk mentally through spaces, choosing the next area of stuff to be tackled.
Inaccurately accused of de-cluttering friends, I do choose my people carefully, like I choose my possessions, but with a loving heart that flows like a rushing river, with admiration for true, authentic companions.
