Message from the Artist: A well-earned rest from her current ascent on this journey of life. She’s just passed the rocks jutting from the sea’s surface, so the difficulties are obvious. The ocean offers choppy waves and interest, challenges to overcome, lessons to be learned, and opportunities to stumble and fall. The sky has delivered clouds and moodier moments, but she has advanced and earned this time to sit.

She’s traveling through a demanding chapter of life, and we can all relate, but in the distance, there is calm, deep hope, a transition from cool toward the richness of warmth and contentment. Her courage and persistence have served her well, her sense of hope has been reliably insistent.

The beach grass now appears to be encouraging her, waving in her direction and cheering her on with its fanciful blossoms and delicate strands. There is promise and potential, warmth and beauty ahead, and a duty to focus on what is to come rather than on the rocks already navigated. “The past is a bucket of ashes”, said poet and journalist Carl Sandburg, 100 years ago.

There is more climbing to come (for all of us), clearly, but the steps are there, even if she doesn’t realize at this moment. Can you see them? We need only to see the next couple steps to keep going.

The courage required, as well as the insight to appreciate the moment as it is, can be found within us. We will never be free from waves, storms, and rocks to climb over, but we have great potential.

Prefer some space between art and frame? Choose a larger frame with a window mat that fits the print size.
