Daylight Dreams Collection ♥ POP #12 is in Process
KATIE BERGGREN► The Daylight Dreams Collection, releasing in February
► Painting On Purpose (12th Annual) has begun
► Making Art In A World That Is Hurting
Hovering near the subconscious, the alpha brain state occupies our first 5-15 minutes after waking; our mind is relaxed and open to affirmation. There is power in harnessing these first minutes of the day.
After days in the studio, pondering titles for this collection, I used those quiet minutes one morning in bed to speak words that captured the essence of how this new series feels to me: mood and dreaminess with a touch of light. I didn’t write anything down; I trusted that the right words would catch.
Daylight Dreams reflects the purpose of these pieces: moments held in the heart and memory, enchanting and just out of grasp. We linger in their light, longing, unable to enter the spaces where reality falls into fantasy. Daylight Dreams repeated in my mind, cycling like vertigo, and I claimed it.
It's time for Painting On Purpose!
The PURPOSE for Painting On Purpose is to give ALL of the money from the sale of an original painting, each year, to an organization that benefits mothers and/or children. This is the 12th Annual POP and there is only ONE previous painting available so far: Tender Illumination.
Since 2015, Painting On Purpose has allowed me to give $7,792 to 10 different organizations that make a positive impact on the lives of mothers and children. See all the paintings and organizations, so far.
Painting On Purpose is a project I created in honor of my grandma Neva, and it allows me to support families with my paintings. This new painting will be released on her 103rd birthday – February 6th, 2026 – and all of the proceeds from the sale will go straight to helping others.
My social media community helped me choose the sketch, so off we go!
I share progress of this painting in my Stories on Facebook and Instagram.

An essay from a creator who doesn't know just what to do or say in these current times (that would be me):
~ Making Art In A World That is Hurting ~
We decide some days that we can handle the emotional ups and downs, the drama and trauma, so we consume some media; we get a bit ‘updated’.
Later we feel a heavy sense of unease, a shivering in our hearts, perhaps an urge to cry that sits right at the edges of our souls and throats.
This place we are living in feels like a made-up world, the heartache, the indifference, the cruelty. There are those putting positive messages out; to wake us and nudge us into action, only we may not know WHAT to do and HOW we can help.
I wonder how art and creating fits into this world, but I have an inkling that it is important to keep doing. To bring beauty to the landscape of such terror and incomprehensible actions seems like a worthy use of time and energy.
Creating with color to celebrate our freedom and aliveness, while we are the free/alive ones; pulling moments and meaning into daily life.
Some of us visually express positivity, put it into the world, because we don’t know how else to proceed.
We offer a ray of light amidst the scrolling of doom, for our fellow humans. I do hope it helps.
My heart breaks for the casualties of our current world, worries for the future ones, and for our future in general.
May our world NOT become a place where artificial tools use sentiments to pretend they have a heart. Where people use cruelty and otherness in place of compassion and education.
May we use our words and actions to look out for and tend to humans around us that ache for eye contact, tenderness and acceptance.
May we SEE each other, learn from each other, and accept our differences, without condoning evil and the harshness that is currently promoted.
I still have faith (holding onto threads) that we CAN turn everything around, that justice, kindness, and togetherness CAN WIN.
That we can look back on this time with wise remorse.

Love & Sincerely, Katie
