I recently found a pad of black paper, and with a white paint pen starting drawing, remembering how much I loved creating on a dark surface.
A week or so later, I stepped up to the easel, desperate for some FREE CREATION to relieve my soul of admin, website design, audio book creation, publishing and all that came with A Silent Story (I’m thrilled I put in the effort, because the finished book is all I dreamed it could be), and eager to get my hands in the paint.
I spread brown paint over the surface of my paper.
Before it was even dry, I dove in with lighter paints and lost myself in the images appearing, the texture, the lines, the swaths of color and delicate additions of shadows and highlights and sparkle to bodies and sweet faces. I felt enamored and hooked. (I shared some process vids on my IG page)
Here are just a few:
I kept creating with no release plan, and it felt delicious. For a couple weeks I’ve spent my studio hours letting my heart fly over the paper. With many different colored backgrounds.
And I am proud and delighted by the pieces I will share with you.
On Tuesday, August 9th at 10am PST
(if you are in the private FB group you can request a secret pass for 1-hour-early shopping)
I am calling this The Memories Collection, because each piece is a swath of memory, a glimpse, a moment in time. And each painting (except for a few) honor two moments. Two stages of life, two intimate exchanges.
Each painting is 12x16 inches on heavy 185 lb. textured painting paper. Created with love and delight, music and soul.
Here are the first 4 in the collection:
Don't hesitate to let me know if you have any questions!
TODAY I give them all names ♥
Thank you for all you do. Have a wonderful week's end.
Stay safe, stay connected, stay healthy.
Love & Sincerely, Katie
