thank you for following along with my new work. I’ve been sharing these pieces on Instagram Stories and I have loved the feedback and inspiration!

Here & Now: the past is ashes

A new original painting collection by Katie m. Berggren

to be released Thursday, October 29, at 630pm PST

right here: www.Shop.KmBerggren.com

October is “INKtober” and my #Inktober ink drawings have inspired this new work. These inks and paintings are inspired by Carl Sandburg’s quote:

“I tell you the past is a bucket of ashes,

so live not in your yesterdays,

nor just for tomorrow,

but in the here and now.”

I have 8 paintings complete, with three more in the works. And NEXT THURSDAY I will send you an email at 630pm PST to let you know that the collection is live and available! When each original is purchased, I will make prints available.

Let me know if you have any questions!

My intention behind this collection is not that we are rising from the ashes, though as humans we must. My intention is more about letting go. About reinventing ourselves and moving onward, not dwelling on past pains and troubles, and leaving the past in ashes.

Carrying the fire forward to ignite our next moments.

You might recognize that this sentiment relates to my Silent Story that I am quietly and slowly working on behind the scenes.

From this moment, we move forward. There are things we need to forget. There are instances (although sweet) that we cannot cling to. And that is what this Collection means to me. Truly BEING in one small moment, surrounded by movement and life passing by. Holding on to this fragment of time and touch, knowing that in seconds things will have changed.

I guess this is essentially what I’ve been painting for the last 17 years… this new work is just reinventing the message, visually.

See new #inktober drawings each day of October in my Instagram Story Highlights (@KmBerggrenArt)

Thank you for reading. Have a wonderful week’s end.
Stay safe, stay sane, stay healthy.
Love & Sincerely, Katie
