Please, mama, give yourself some slack. Some compassion, some permission to dawdle, to explore, to chill out. Permission to NOT always complete your to-do list, to not always be on-time, to NOT always be the perfect mom, PTA member, wife, friend, employee… Permission to make mistakes. To take a hot shower in the middle of the day, to go without a bra, to give your kids PB&J for dinner. Once in awhile.
I am noticing lately how the things that drag us down one day, don’t even matter the next. The things we ‘think’ we HAVE to do, upon closer inspection, do not really need to be done. I’m, like, 8 hours late in sending this email today, and this is the first time in YEARS that I’ve been so late on a mini painting release… oh well. The old me would have stayed up til 2am last night, getting everything set. The smarter me says… “who cares?” As long as the painting hits the world, I can be a little late. It won’t even matter by dinnertime.
For you, please find compassion. As my good friend said to me just yesterday “if you had employees, you’d be nice to *them*…” so, as the execs of our own lives, let’s be nice to ourselves. That’s all
It’s Thursday, so here is today’s new mini painting for the Everyday Connection Collection. Her name is: Gentle Gift ~ After creating Gentle Gift, I found the perfect quote by Nia Vardalos (her book: Instant Mom), summing up the feeling of this piece: “Anyone who ever wondered how much they could love a child who did not spring from their own loins, know this: it is the same. The feeling of love is so profound, it’s incredible and surprising.”
“I love my collection of your art. It does serve to inspire and remind me, everyday, of the love I have for my family and the tenderness I strive to express, even when I’m ready to lose my mind!” ~ Laurie
