A Silent Story Scene We Relate To ♥ Final Day for Calendar Pre-Orders
KATIE BERGGRENIn 1988, when I was 10, my brother (12) had Leukemia. My mom spent over 100 days in the hospital with him, by his side. A perfect-match bone marrow donation (from me) led to a transplant, and 38 years later, he is fit as a fiddle. The experience touched our family deeply and created threads that are still felt today.
In 2022, many of you were kind and supportive as my son went in for major spinal surgery. He & I spent just 4 days in the hospital, but the experience left lasting feelings and memories; deep evidence of bravery, resilience and vulnerability. And an appreciation for my mom's experience so long before.
As I work on A Silent Story Of Loving & Letting Go, I realize that I need this scene in the book – the vulnerability of the small fragile child, the tireless over-seeing of the parent.
AND… even though the book WILL be SILENT… I’ve decided The Seeker will have a bit of language in this scene, and in the second scene shown below. I’ll share more as I move further ahead.
The idea of giving her a speck of language in these two scenes grabbed me in the middle of the night. I keep paper and pen next to my bed just for this reason. And a small flashlight. You can see the sketch I made, and you can see the two pieces in process. And you can see the language in the sketch… a little song from The Seeker ♥ (yet to be painted).
(You may notice that I am adding more watermarks to my artwork these days - it's true, and here is why: My website is being slammed by 100s to 1000s of AI bots - most days. The bots are stealing artwork and information from my site pages. There isn't anything I can do about it - but adding extra protection to my images feels like a good idea.)
ALSO: today = last day for art calendar pre-orders
I've got cards and stickers for all orders placed on this final day.
Enjoy your week!
Love & Sincerely, Katie
