The idea for my Silent Story stemmed from the writing and art therapy that I poured myself into after a friendship loss. A heartbreak. A deafening silence between two souls. A ghosting.

I believe we provide a safe place for our friends to open, to break, to spill… and we can help them to heal with our understanding, love and listening. However... it doesn’t always work that way, unfortunately.

I’m not sure if you can relate to an experience like this? But I imagine that you can, and I feel with you ♥

While suffering through silence and confusion in 2018 and 2019… I found healing in writing. I reveled in the work of Byron Katie.

And once the writing pulled me through the first doorway, creating drawings about the experience pushed me across more thresholds.

I found that drawing my feelings helped me to feel my emotions. To look at my situation from a distance, to hold my sadness at arm’s length. I fell in love with my character, whose name I didn’t even know yet, and wanted to help her through sadness, and to find joy again.

I sketched and sketched to find her form, and then realized that she was right in front of me. In a painting that I had created in 2007 and had on my studio wall. Her name is The Seeker. I created the painting “Seeking” in 2007 while raising two babies and trying to find my place. Trying to balance creating and mothering and the way these two passions fed and disrupted each other.

The Seeker is the early form of my work, an inner form of a human, a raw and vulnerable being. She is the core heart and spirit of us, the emotional and vulnerable being that is not hidden by our hairstyles, body flub, clothing choices, make-up and accessories.

You can see how my Seeker has traveled through my work over the years, by visiting here. And here is a photo of the original painting created in 2007, and me in my depths, in the throws of drawing up the idea for Silent Story in 2019.

KICKSTARTER in JANUARY

I have been working on this project for over 2 years. In January I plan to launch a Kickstarter to help get the word out... and to give you the opportunity to pre-order books and/or original paintings and other goodies. I am even working with an incredible artist to make Seeker sculptures that will be raffled off the first week of the Kickstarter ♥♥ I can not WAIT to show them to you, they are fully jaw-dropping.
