new rainbow baby painting ~ studio update

About painting: this is more than just a job… More than a hobby. Painting gets me up in the morning and keeps me up at night. Mojo flows more smoothly at night, but I love this craft at any time of day. And I’ll take a chance to paint when and where I can

Over ten years ago I began standing to paint – at the easel, at the work bench, hour after hour, and I’m sure it has kept me young recently, however, I started a new project that has taken me to the table… the dining room table!

I find it ironic because I started doing my art at my kitchen table about 14 years ago ~ then I moved to my first “studio” (my laundry room), where I stood at the counter painting while my children slept. When we moved to a new city, my temporary “studio” was the corner of my living room, while we searched for and found our current house with a lovely space for me to work, over 7 years ago.

And I’ve been standing and working ever since (even scorning the idea of sitting to create).

And now! A new big project that I’ve been absorbed in for a couple months has recently taken me to the chair. The pieces are too intimate, they require me to sit and fawn over them and I find it funny that I’m sitting again. Oh the circle of things. Best not to judge, eh?

Here is a sneak peek at this current big project:

And this week I have a new available mini original painting to share!

About 9.5 years ago I began releasing a new mini painting every Thursday ~ several collections later and I’ve taken a break from it for the past several months.

(But now, I’m planning a new series. I LOVE PAINTING COLLECTIONS!! This one will be a little different ~ stand-by, I’ll release more info within a month or so.)

Today’s new mini painting is called Emerge. I’ve been hearing lately from so many mamas who have experienced loss – heart-breaking. October is infant loss awareness month. These stories have inspired Emerge. The rainbow baby has emerged, while the mother never forgets the baby who came before ~ the little essence alighting upon her hand, always shining over her, spreading jewels down upon the little couplet.
