new mother & daughter painting – back to school

It’s Back-To-School time. Bittersweet. Today was the first day of 5th and 7th grade for my boys. Yikes. We had a fantastic summer, packed with togetherness and fun, so this mama has no regrets.

But Back-To-School automatically comes with more responsibility. We have to get up earlier to prepare lunches and breakfast. We have MORE work and less play…. And less hugs throughout the day.

Here is how I’m easing into this chapter of the year: I’m cutting myself slack – in cleaning and work. I’m going to bed with toys on the floor and unfolded laundry. I am not going to stress as much about baths and perfect meals, and spots on the floor. I’m focusing on priorities.

Life is short. I recently read somewhere, someone said (something like) “when I think about the fact that I will someday be dead, it helps me to…” fill in the blank. Prioritize? Scratch some junk off the to-do list? Stress less about the small stuff? Whatever works for you.

I wish you many happy days, many moments of appreciating yourself for ALL that you do. Many quiet hours of snoozing, and many, many hugs from little arms.

This week’s new original mini painting is called Perfect Path ~ moving through life hand-in-hand, they help each other through the darkness and embrace the light, together.

This original piece has SOLD, because a collector who saw her on Facebook (before she was completely done) asked to claim her.

YOU can do this too… if you ever see a piece in process (I post on Facebook and Instagram) and feel a connection, don’t hesitate to ask if you can snag her. I’ll let you know if someone else has already done so, or if the piece is a commissioned (pre-sold) piece.
