Let's journey into the VAULT, once again ~ at this point in my career, 2008, you still wouldn't have found me painting from a photo – my pieces are more about the elements, line, shape, color, depth, composition and texture, and a moment of time, than they are about creating a certain person. I fall in love with each one’s delicacy, innocence and whimsical tenderness.

A glimpse from the past, a snippet from a 2007 journal entry: 

“It’s crazy how life is progressing: the boys are bigger and more rambunctious and busy, my paintings are improving steadily and selling EVERY month. Up to 8 per month so far! It's like a dream come true.

 

I love my busy little boys and we are getting along wonderfully. I’m more relaxed.. we haven’t had any time outs in a few days (3 or 4 maybe?). I am talking more respectfully to my kids and they are playing so well together. Some afternoons I even paint while they play. I’m giving 1, 3 & 5-minute warnings before changing activities and that’s helping. They are playing well in the tub, and I can write (like now) or draw or read while they play next to me.

 

It’s becoming spring and that is helping immensely. The nice weather and sun coming in the windows does amazing things for my soul. Invigorates and motivates me." 

 

 

I’m releasing one reimagined From the Vault piece each day for 10 days; affordable, collectible, and extremely limited. Only 7 hand-embellished 8x8 inch prints of each painting will ever exist. Strictly limited, no restocks.

RELEASE NUMBER 6: LIFE IS BUT A DREAM

 

Written during creation, in 2007. I believe that children should have lots of “time-in” with their parents, especially if “time-outs” are going to work. Originally, I was going to call this painting Time In, but after working closely with it and experiencing the dream-like quality, I decided Life Is But A Dream was more fitting. Besides the dream-like colors and textures of this piece, dreams can be beautiful, and often hard to remember. Just like childhood.
