Let's journey into the VAULT for the 5th day ~ a place to fall into spirit, energy, essence, light, movement… attention and love. A place to find digital folders full of figures folding together, skin on skin, touch, moments, raw and undefined love and caring and nurturing.

 

At some point, it seems, we really feel like we have a grasp on who we are and what we are meant to do. The next day we may hate our life... so hold onto (and write down) those chunks of joy and moments of satisfaction. 

 

A glimpse from the past, a snippet from a 2008 journal entry: 

“Painting makes me closer to my kids and myself. Supremely happy; best addiction. I’m not afraid anymore, that’s really what it is, no fear of Success OR Failure. Always willing to wipe a board clean and start fresh. Paintings take up too much room to produce something that I don’t love. I have succeeded enough times to have confidence in my abilities. I have failed enough to know that it is not the end of the world.

 

Each piece is a study, a moment, a splinter of heart. I have a love affair with each of my figures. I craft them with so much love and attention."

I’m releasing one reimagined From the Vault piece each day for 10 days; affordable, collectible, and extremely limited. Only 7 hand-embellished 8x8 inch prints of each painting will ever exist. Strictly limited, no restocks.

RELEASE NUMBER 5: CONVERSATIONS

 

Created in January 2008. Sharing a golden moment with a little one, listening to all they have to say. This piece was inspired by my first son, who was 4 during the painting process. From the time he was 18 months he would rumble along at your side, rambling along in conversation. His tiny voice delighted us, and the way he practiced words, and seemed to understand and absorb all that we said. Whether they can understand the spoken word, they can FEEL the closeness – they can absorb the fact that we are spending time with THEM. And that THEY matter.
