From the Vault: Release 4/10 - Forgive
KATIE BERGGRENSee All Of The From The Vault Pieces Here, So Far
Let's venture back into the VAULT for day 4 ~ a place to find over 20 years of mistakes, successes, tears, fears and celebrations. Paintings that made my heart SING! And pieces that pushed me in new directions.
A glimpse from the past, an early journal snippet:
"If I am to truly be what I want to be, I HAVE to express myself through my pieces, and I have to NOT give a &#% about what others think. Our lives can go down the toilet if we focus on facebook and twitter and what other people say and feel.
I need to tap into my own center, my own gifts... At the heart, I still want to express mother and child, because it also expresses human to human. Affection, emotion, skin, touch, breath, eyes. Yes, those things. And I am doing it through mother
and child because it is how I feel every day and it is what I see every day.
The relationship between the mother and child can be so conflicted, controversial, contrasting and confusing. Also, it is stunningly beautiful and changes from moment to moment. That is what I want to capture."
I’m releasing one reimagined From the Vault piece each day for 10 days; affordable, collectible, and extremely limited. Only 7 hand-embellished 8x8 inch prints of each painting will ever exist. Get yours before they disappear.
Early Bird Bonus: the first two collectors of each Vault print get a handwritten greeting card from me, with a behind-the-scenes message about the painting + an art sticker.
RELEASE NUMBER 4: FORGIVE
Written during creation, March 2008. Not all is peaches and cream in a home with small children, and sometimes I wonder if I’m a hypocrite by painting only those sweet moments. This piece is heavy for me – I fall from grace and bark at my little ones occasionally… For a variety of reasons I’ve asked my children to forgive me.
I believe in the power of forgiveness. Page 91 in “You Can Heal Your Life” by Louise Hay hit home for me in this mention: “when we are stuck, that usually means there is some more forgiving to be done. When we do not flow freely with life in the present moment, it usually means we are holding on to a past moment. It can be regret, sadness, hurt, fear or guilt, blame, anger, resentment, and sometimes even the desire for revenge.
Each one of these states comes from a space of unforgiveness, and refusal to let go and come into the present moment. Love is always the answer to healing of any sort. And the pathway to love is forgiveness. Forgiveness dissolves resentment…”
What a fantastic book. In this painting, the mother is very nearly looking toward the sky, as if to confirm the forgiveness that she is either giving or receiving.
Heavy, textured Velvet Satin Paper.
Only 7 prints.
Hand-embellished.
Straight from the Vault.
Each print of Forgive will be individually embellished with my brushes and paints, then signed and dated. You can even request hair and/or eye color customizations.
