Art Gift Certificates ~ Pleasures vs. Tasks

I ADORE capturing moments of touch, smooches and sleep… besides feeding my own soul, my work gives mothers and fathers inspiration to scoop up their children; to put down the vacuum and pick up a storybook; to stop and look into the little face in front of them.

If one child gets more cuddles because a mother feels less alone when looking at my paintings ~ then I’ve helped a bit. And that makes me feel purposeful.

It’s getting late to receive art via mail in time to wrap and give, but it’s not too late for Motherhood Art Gift Certificates.

~~~~~ PLEASURES versus TASKS ~~~~~
Over the past few days I’ve been thinking a lot about how our joy-filled opportunities to pick out/buy/wrap and give gifts can very quickly become TASKS: items we need to check off our list.
Yesterday I took all the wrapped gifts to the mission, for the family I adopted. And I just left them in the office. I didn’t get to deliver them to the family (I knew this in advance) and I didn’t get to play Santa and put them under the tree (this happened once, though!). I just dropped them off and drove away…
It truly was a TASK on my list… something that needed to be done. I sat in my car and felt a little empty inside.
Then I went to my favorite grocery store and spent almost too long browsing and picking out treats for one of my best girlfriends… looking and choosing with a smile… and it really was a PLEASURE she’ll say I gave her too much, but the act of picking was a gift for me, too.
It’s not too often that you get to feel both sides of a coin on the same day, right?
I hope to inspire this thought in you today, too – for as you move into the coming week’s festivities and opportunities.
Thank you for everything, have a WONDERFUL day.
Wanna chat live on Facebook? I’ll see you there.
Love & Sincerely, Katie
