A Personal Note About Letting Go (of things)
Recently I decided it was time to let go of the rocking chair that has comforted me and my boys since before my first son was born. My husband built it (from a kit) and presented it to me on my birthday. I often took photos of my baby(ies) in that chair, and started reading to my son when he was 5 weeks old. Every night. In that chair. And when there were two boys that were too big for my lap, we moved to the beanbag.
That chair was a blessing – but it hadn’t been sat in for many years and was taking up a whole corner of my bedroom. I put it on the Buy Nothing page of FB, hoping another mother could continue the chair’s life with her baby. It ended up going to an old man with an in-home church, which reminded me that we do not always get to choose where our ‘things’ end up – if we make the decision to part with them, that is our decision. Who comes along to need it is NOT our decision.
He was a nice man and said that he’d probably be the one sitting in it. I threw a vision into my brain of him asleep in the chair, his belly, his big bare feet, his mostly bare head… and… realized the chair would still be doing its job: comforting someone. And that’s okay.
(¾ of the cushions were not even included in the gift because I washed and washed them in hopes of getting the breastmilk out of them. There was enough dna on those cushions that they could practically have walked down the sidewalk on their own. Unfortunately, the washing machine ruined the cushions, but they WERE 21 years old.)

Okay, onto Art Collection things…
The Thrive Collection was created in the first months of 2021 – and features women who are flourishing despite circumstances. We were still in the home-times of Covid with many of us feeling stuck and stagnant and trapped. But Spring was coming and Spring is a season of intoxicating hope, this collection showed that we are destined to THRIVE. When the time is right, we push from the soil and reach toward the sky, blooming like flowers, as we ache for sun and breeze after being tucked away.
Also, a slight adjustment to what I said last week: every piece was claimed quite quickly except 2 that sold a couple years later – I never know how pieces will ‘hit’ with my collectors 😊 and it’s fun to create art that makes my soul feel alight, then put it out into the world.
Fleeting & Forever was one of the faves from the collection, but I loved them all and they have all gone to very happy families ♥

The Thrive Collection was truly an inspiring joy to create and I feel certain that more pieces will come out of this flow of inspiration in the future.
