I hope you are having a nice week. Despite it all, keep in mind your strength, remember your value.
My newest painting collection is unfolding, and I'm building this body of work with respect and recognition for you and the women around us.
Spending my days bathed in these women's stories, thinking of them all day, I'm layering colors into their skin and hair, and the worlds around them.

Here is the story for the painting on the lower left
(in the above photo):
We touch most often the parts that are wounded, to see if they have healed. To check and check again for scars, those places in our hearts.
Your solid foundation doesn’t need to be apparent, sharp, flaunted. It can be a gauzy layer of strength, its presence deceived by our soft curves and your gentle handling of the world.
It matters, what our hands do, where they point, the boxes they check, the gifts they give, and what they take. Choose what is not to be taken. You’ve earned the wall of strength that houses your healing parts.
Here is a portion of the story for the painting above
(unfinished):
The little child is flecked with trepidation, discomfort and isolation. Strong she is though, far from hopeless, she tapped into the tissues, emotions, vibrations and fluids… and healed. An empowered woman grew from her, trekked through dense forests, plucked inspirational blooms, sagged under loss, was dislodged by heartache, bandaged by love… and all the while the little one existed.
Young and grown, there wouldn’t be one without the other. The seed sprouts, suffers some, curls around stones and mucks through mud. Eventually vertical, it reaches toward the sun. The woman, she finds balance after horizonal detours and crooked diversions. She touches a hand to her heart knowing, with a flash inside, that the strength needed was always on tap. The little child has developed into a rooted knowledge and an inner faith. And she is genuine.
This body of work is still unfolding.
The pieces shown above are unfinished.
I have 20 or so sketches with stories,
and all the strands are coming together
into a beautiful braid,
a little more every day.
Which piece speaks most loudly to you? You may see it differently than I, finding your own story within the colors and figures, and that is A-OK!
Wishing you a lovely end to your week.
Love & Sincerely,
Katie
