A Gaggle of Geese & A Fluffle Of Bunnies
KATIE BERGGRENWhat excitement I feel burbling through the studio as I work more on Silent Story book 2, Loving & Letting Go. The first book was VERY emotional (and really helped cure the pain of a broken heart for me AND the many people who reached out after owning the book), but this 2nd book in the series is emotional AND exciting because the topic is a child going off into the big world…
My eldest son leaves the nest in less than 2 months – and I feel emotional, but also excited for him. We will have a huge piece of our hearts, thousands of miles away, but thriving and learning and making his own life in his own home.
How can I not
find joy in that?
As I work on the newest painting for the book, I’m just tickled by the geese – did you know the mama goose holds her gosling on her back beneath her feathers? Just too cute. This is a pivotal piece in the book, stay tuned :)
I work on these geese, and with the expectant and innocent face of The Seeker, I’m reminded of my Wild Tenderness Collection.
I started the Wild Tenderness collection in 2019, but it still speaks to me. I did 3 rounds of paintings, but still remember THAT FIRST moment of sitting in the salon waiting room, while my son was getting his haircut, and concepting in my journal:
“What about a painting of a child with a cat… or with other more wilder animals that are friendly… what about a whole collection of these!?”
Ooooh, the juxtaposition of the soft sweet child and the big critter…
You can see the paintings that came out of that collection, here.
They contain a fluffle of bunnies, birds with eggs, a mama bear with her babies, a fox, a dolphin... and even a hedgehog! Go check 'em.
All of the originals have sold except one.
I see a 4th set in my future...
But first, Silent Story, book 2.
(I also have another collection brewing in my mind, one I concepted a couple years ago and have been nurturing in the back of my mind… that will come later.)
You know when your brain trips over itself because you have so many ideas or directions buzzing around in there?
Happy Spring to those in my hemisphere, and I wish you a beautiful end to your week!
Thank you for your connection, feedback and love ♥
Love & Sincerely,
Katie
