There is something about Before & After photos that I just love. Is it because we forget how much thought and effort we put into something… an outfit, a dinner, painting a room, a piece of art, a clutter-clearing session… and so looking at the Bs & As are so satisfying? Perhaps we lose ourselves in the process and seeing how far we’ve come feels like success?
Sometimes we don’t get the gratitude we wish for from other people, and so taking our own Before & After photos allows us to give OURSELVES gratitude! And then we can show off the photos, too. 😊
A couple weeks ago I painted my laundry room – my husband was out of town (so I didn’t have to explain my reasons) and I had grown very annoyed with the dark color and the sloppiness of the previous owners’ painting job. We’ve been in this house 14 years and the room NEVER felt clean and NEVER felt like 'my' place. I took the plunge and painted it with the only color I had left in my garage cabinet, not wanting to pick a color at the store :) it was pretty much pure white, and I was aching for fresh, so I went for it.
Maybe the new color seems boring to some, but my brain NEEDS clean white spaces, does yours? My husband noticed immediately upon arriving home, and all three of the boys in my house admitted it is much better. 😊
I also love to take Before & After pictures of my paintings!
It is really easy to forget the effort that went into a piece. And I sometimes feel like I just spent 6 hours at the easel only to get nearly nowhere… but when I compare the images, I feel so satisfied!
Here are a few fun ones from recent projects: a DURING photo & and the COMPLETION! The actual 'before' photo would just be of a blank canvas. 😊
Final Tidbit: I don't choose to watch very much television, but I have recently finished a months-long process of the series New Amsterdam. It's a hospital-themed show, and the focus is on the beautiful relationships and people. I loved it ♥
I love my people ♥ thank you ♥
I hope you have a lovely weekend, I’m taking some time off, so any orders placed over the next couple days will process on Tuesday.
Thank you for following along with my work, I really appreciate your kind communication and support ♥
Love & Sincerely, Katie
